LABioHub was founded in 2013 by Howard Leonhardt and Richard Koffler to serve as a hub of life science resources for the Los Angeles community with the guiding leadership support  and generous help of  Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office, the City of Santa Monica Economic Development team led by Jennifer Taylor, SoCal Bio, the Alfred Mann Foundation, Core Manufacturing, LABioMed, the UCLA Business of Science Center, Cross Campus, ROC Santa Monica, The Pasadena BioScience Incubator, the UCLA Extension Bioengineering Program, USC Center for Technology and Innovation in Pediatrics, USC Keck Center Cardiac Surgery Dept., Greenwings Biomedical, Leonhardt Ventures, CalXelerator, Cal-X Stars Business Accelerator, Inc., BioLeonhardt, MyoStim Pacers, Kindheart Lionheart Media Co., The California Stock Xchange, Startup California and Janssen Labs.  In 2014 the Founders are working to organize a physical life incubator in Santa Monica working in partnership with a number of potential partners and to assemble onto one web site all the life science resources of the Los Angeles community.
